RECREATIONAL DANCE PROGRAM

Recreational Class Schedule 08-09 (last revision August 26-08)

At Rugcutterz we take great pride in our recreational program, designed to instill a love of dance in an environment that promotes fun, fitness and learning. Our instructors, some of whom have graduated from our full-time competitive program, have been specially chosen not only for their dance knowledge, but also for their caring and patient approach to teaching.
Recreational classes are divided by age and ability. Dancers may take one class or several, the choice is yours. The program is available to boys and girls 3+ years.

All classes are held once a week and most are one hour in length.

At the end of the year Recreational Dancers get a chance to showcase their new talents in our year-end recital. Complete with sound, lighting and stage effects, audiences will be amazed at the professionalism of the entire production.
Rugcutterz offers a variety of recreational programs for dancers of all ages, including hip hop, tap, jazz, ballet and musical theatre.
Class Levels

Recreational class levels are determined by previous dance experience and age.

In some cases, the age level listed on the schedule will change after fall registration, depending on the students entered in that class. We will always continually assess the students to be sure they are placed in the program that is most appropriate for them and their level.
Advancing

All Recreational students will receive a Recommendation letter at the end of the dance season, listing suitable classes for Fall Registration. Primarily, these letters will indicate recreational classes of the same or higher level.

In some cases, students may be recommended to participate in one of Rugcutterz' Competitive Dance Programs. This will be mentioned in the year-end letter if this is the case.
Mainly, students advancing from the Recreational Program would be recommended for the Part-Time or Half-Time Competitive Programs.

This is a great stepping stone for students moving from Recreational to Competitive dance lifestyles. In some cases, the student may also be asked to participate in the Full-Time Competitive Program.

Please refer to the 'Competitive Dance Programs' section for more details on the programs and student assessments.
Tap is not only a fun dance form, but it’s a great workout too.
Advancing to a Competitive Dance Program is not mandatory. These programs involve a higher commitment from the student and the family, and do require a certain level of performance from the student.

All recommendations are made by teachers, and reviewed by the Artistic Director.
