GENERAL INFORMATION
Rugcutterz Danz Artz strives to maintain an open line of communication with all its clients. Through the use of newsletters, e-mail notices, and bulletin board announcements, parents and students are kept up-to-date about the studio and its programs. As a supplement to all the forms of communication, this website will be updated on a regular basis. It the responsibility of parents and students to visit the site often for updates.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The following information is a reference guide for Rugcutterz Danz Artz. Its contents are subject to change. Rugcutterz and its staff cannot be held accountable for any changes that may occur due to unforeseen circumstances.

The artistic director, Miss Kim Barker has the right to change choreography, music, and participants in any dance routines, at any time, at her discretion. Her decision is final. If there are any discrepancies with any of the information provided, please inform the front desk.

Parents / guardians are expected to check for any updates or changes that will be posted on www.rugcutterz.com website and on a bulletin board in the lobby. Unless otherwise informed, it is safe to assume that the information provided is correct, but please do not hesitate to confirm any of the information with a Rugcutterz Staff member.



STUDENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

COMMON EXPECTATIONS - STUDENTS


1. All students are expected to attend classes regularly and be punctual. Unless we are aware of any lateness, a teacher will not let a student, who is more than 10 minutes late, into their class.

2. All students are to be dressed appropriately for classes. Students who are not dressed appropriately will receive consequences in the following manner:

A. Documented warning
B. Phone call

After three (3) warnings, a student will not be allowed into the class and there will be no recourse to the studio.

Dress Code will be posted in the studio and also made available on the web site.

3. It is expected that all students display the principals of fairness, openness and respectfulness.

4. Students are expected to show proper respect for staff and will not deliberately challenge authority by disobeying or by displaying an attitude or action designed to provoke hostility.

5. If you are observing classes, it is extremely important to be quiet and courteous.

6. Student conduct in the classes demands silence and total attention. Focus by the student on the instructor is expected.

7. All students are expected to treat the studio's property and the possessions of all individuals with respect, care and consideration.

8. All students are expected to personally display and actively encourage positive behaviour.

9. There will be no tolerance to the use of profanity, fighting, bullying, theft and vandalism.

10. Students are asked to refrain from using social networking tools such as Facebook, MSN and MySpace to talk about other dancers.

It is expected that all students will accept the consequences of their own actions and choices.

The Artistic Director may take away any extra routines offered as a consequence to a student's action!



COMPETITIVE STUDENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. All competitive students must attend all scheduled classes. Missing five (5) days during the dance season will result in dismissal from any competitive company. Please note that if a student has three classes on one day and misses one of those classes, he/she will be considered to have missed one entire day. Students are responsible for learning what they missed in class while they were away.

2. All students are expected to attend classes regularly and be punctual. Unless informed of any lateness, a teacher will not let a student, who is more than 10 minutes late, into their class. Being denied entry into a class due to lateness will be recorded as a missed class. Dancers who arrive late are responsible for their own warm-up.

3. Dancers will not be allowed to sit out and watch a class, unless given permission by the Artistic Director.

4. Parents are responsible for getting their dancer(s) to classes. Dancers' absence or lateness due to car pooling is not a valid excuse. If a carpool is late or absent, all dancers will be recorded as missing one day.

5.Vacation time should be restricted to the Christmas Break (Dec. 21 - Jan. 4). Competitive classes may be scheduled during March Break (March 16 - March 22). It is unfair to other dancers if members of their company are not available for rehearsals in the weeks leading up to the first competition.

6. All students are to be dressed appropriately for classes. During ballet class, female students must wear a blue or black body suit with pink ballet tights. Male students must wear shorts and a white t-shirt. Students may layer shorts and tank tops over their body suit during tap classes, but no student is to waste time between classes to change. All shoes and additional clothing should be brought to each class. HAIR MUST BE IN A BUN FOR ALL CLASSES UNLESS OTHERWISE INSTRUCTED.

12. The use of profanity, fighting, bullying, theft and vandalism will not be tolerated.


It is expected that all students will accept the consequences of their own actions and choices.

The Artistic Director reserves the right to revoke the privilege of any extra routines or remove from competitive company, any dancer not adhering to the above rules.


CODE OF CONDUCT

COMMON EXPECTATIONS - PARENTS

1. All parents are requested to call the school if their child will be absent that day.

2. Parents are also requested to send a note when a child will miss a class due to illness or homework needs.

3. Parents need to inform administrative staff well in advance for any vacations that are taken outside the holiday schedules. Please indicate expected dates of departure and returns. If a student falls behind, it is expected to attend make-up classes with a tutor at no extra cost to the studio.

4. It is expected that all parents display the principals of fairness, openness and respectfulness.

5. Parents are expected to show proper respect for staff and will not deliberately challenge authority by disobeying or by displaying an attitude or action designed to provoke hostility.

6. If there is an issue that needs to be discussed, please meet with the front receptionist to arrange for a meeting or a phone conversation to take place.

7. NEVER enter a class to talk to the instructor or your child. A parent needs to be accompanied into the studio by an administrator.

8. Other than parents of Kinder or Primary students, parents are not allowed into the change rooms or classrooms.

It is expected that all parents will accept the consequences of their own actions and choices.

PLEASE NOTE

1. NO Peanuts or Peanut Products are allowed in our studio, or the change rooms of any of the competitions that our studio will be attending. If you come in contact with peanuts, please wash your hands and face thoroughly.

2. Bare feet are not permitted outside the classroom except under the direct supervision of an instructor.

3. Any questions concerning fees, upcoming events, shoes, costuming and studio policies should be directed to the office manager, NOT the instructors.

4. All students must have permission to use any TV, VCR or sound equipment.

5. NO Food or Drink is permitted anywhere except in the lunchroom at all times. This includes the lobby, the change rooms, studios, and washrooms. After having food or drink the lunchroom, please clean up after yourselves! Please do not leave garbage on the tables or floor!

A. The only exception to this is a student is allowed to have water only in the studio. Please clean up after yourselves if you bring a bottle into the studio.

6. Students, parents and friends are responsible for picking up after themselves.

7. NO GUM allowed in the studio whether you are dancing or not.

8. All jewelry must be removed before any class.

9. For everyone's safety, please do not block halls with dance bags.

10. There is NO RUNNING NOR PLAYING allowed in any areas, lobby, or back rooms.

11. All parents must monitor younger siblings.

12. Rugcutterz cannot be held responsible for any losses of personal property or valuables. Any clothing / toy left at the studio will be placed in the lost and found box. Jewellery and small items will be kept behind the front desk. Any clothing left more than thirty (30) days will be given to charity.

13. Rugcutterz and it's instructors are not liable for loss of or damage to personal property.

14. When parking your vehicle, please park in parking spots provided. Do not leave your vehicle parked in front of the door or along the side curbs. This is dangerous for the students when crossing across the parking lot.

15. Children are asked to stay in the studio until their parent / caregiver arrives.

LEGALESE

1. All parents certify that their child is in good physical condition and is able to participate fully in this program. All current medical conditions requiring medication are outlined on the Application Form. All parents fully understand the inherent risk involved in the physical activity of dancing and therefore release school Rugcutterz Danz Artz and its teachers from any liability in case of accident or injury.

2. All parents fully understand that all classes will be conducted in the safest possible manner by trained professional instructors.

3. Rugcutterz Danz Artz cannot be responsible for injuries sustained while traveling to or from its facilities.

4. Rugcutterz Danz Artz cannot be responsible for loss of or damage to personal property.



INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

During extreme weather conditions, classes may be cancelled. A cancellation message will be recorded on our phone system and when time permits, posted on our website as well.

Medication

If students require medication, please advise the front desk. If an Epipen is needed, please advise front desk and teacher. Tylenol will not be given out without parents' permission.

Student Accidents

If a minor accident occurs, such as a cut or bruise, student is required to notify the teacher so that first aid can be administered immediately. If first aid is administered, every effort will be made to notify the parent.

Cancellation of Classes

Rugcutterz Danz Artz reserves the right to cancel any class, temporarily or permanently, without advance notice, due to an emergency, weather conditions, or lack of students.

Photography and Video

Each student and his or her legal guardian(s) hereby release to Rugcutterz Danz Artz the rights to all photography and video that may be taken by or for Rugcutterz during class, performances or competitions, for use in advertising and promotion, including television coverage.

Personal photography and videotaping are strictly prohibited during classes, performances and competitions.

Breaks in Between Classes

Parents, please inform your children of their boundaries when they are on break in between classes. If your child is old enough and mature enough to leave the premises, let them know how far they are to go, who or how many should accompany them, and how long they may leave for. (They may only leave with written permission from parent(s). However, if you have a younger child, they must remain inside the building on their break unless accompanied by an appropriate guardian. Students are not permitted to remain in the parking lot unless walking to or from a vehicle. This is strictly for pick-up and drop-off.

Posting Boards

We would like to keep clean lines of communication to avoid possible confusion; therefore all signage must be submitted to the front desk a week in advance of when you would like to post it. The signage will then be approved and dealt with accordingly by management. This will prevent false information from being posted, which can often cause a lot of miscommunication.

No Smoking

In keeping with our efforts to provide a healthy environment for all of our dancers, smoking is not permitted on Rugcutterz Danz Artz property.
