Handbook

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Annual Rugcutterz Recital for the 2011/12 Dance Season will be held at the Rose Theatre in Brampton, June 10-12.

A total of four shows will be performed, with an afternoon and evening performance being held on Sunday, June 10 and evening shows being held on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12.
All recreational dancers will be scheduled to perform in two of the four shows. A schedule will be made available and posted on the Rugcutterz website at www.rugcutterz.com.

Each year much preparation goes into the planning of the annual recital and we look forward to seeing all our young performers taking to the stage to showcase all that they’ve learned during the year.

In order for the recital to run smoothly, we’ve put together the Rugcutterz Danz Artz Recital Booklet to help all our families prepare for this exciting event.

Inside the booklet you will find information regarding costumes, important dates and times, and a handy list of what to bring for recital.

There is also a Volunteer Registration Form attached. If you are able to volunteer your time during any one of the recitals, we encourage you to fill out the form.

If you have any questions regarding the information contained in the Rugcutterz Danz Artz Recital Booklet, please contact the front desk at 905.660.4169.

We look forward to another great recital.

Sincerely,

Rugcutterz Danz Artz Management

No parents allowed backstage.

No food or drink is allowed in the change rooms.

Dancers will be instructed to refrain from talking backstage so as not to disturb the performance.

Dancers will be kept in the Rehearsal Hall before and after their performance. A live video feed of the performance will be shown in the Rehearsal Hall.

The use of flash photography and video cameras is prohibited during the performance for the safety of the dancers and the comfort of those around them.

Please turn off all cell phones and pagers.

The Rose Theatre is run by community volunteers. Please treat the staff with respect at all times.

As a courtesy to all the performers and the other audience members, please do not enter and exit the theatre during the performances, this included in between dance routines.

Refrain from talking during the performances as this is distracting to the performers. Also, please refrain from cheering students names before or during a routine as it disrupts the dancers.

Recital Check In and Out Procedures

If your child is dancing in more than one routine, please make sure they arrive in their first performance costume and have all the necessary costumes and shoes, clearly labeled along with them.

When you arrive at the Rose Theatre on rehearsal day, please report to the check in counter and sign your dancer(s) in. Parents/guardians are NOT able to watch the rehearsal. When your child is finished rehearsing all of their routines and they have had their group picture taken, you may sign them back out and leave the theatre.

On the actual recital performance days, parents are asked to bring their dancer(s) to the theatre one hour before showtime. Dancers should arrive in their first costume, with hair and make-up already done. Proceed to the check-in counter and sign your dancer(s) in. Your child will be available for pick-up after they have performed their last routine or you may choose to leave them in the holding room until intermission or the end of the show. Supervision will be provided in the holding room by parent volunteers, as well as other staff.

No child will be allowed to roam the facility without supervision. Please note: the holding room is for dancers only. Parents may not hang out in the holding room with their child.

During the recital, children requiring help with costume changes will be helped by adult staff or volunteers. Parents wishing to help their own child may do so by signing in their child and then meeting them in their assigned dressing room. Parents will still have to sign them out when they are ready to leave.

Parents, please note, in the interest of safety, the person picking up your child(ren) may be asked to provide identification. No child will be allowed to leave the holding room without a parent/guardian signing them out. This procedure has been put in place to ensure your child(ren)’s safety. It may get hectic when all parents are tying to sign in and sign out their children in all at once, but with a little patience from everyone, we will be able to ensure that all children are accounted for.

If you have purchased a ticket for your dancer, please go the holding room after your child’s last number, sign them out and then they may watch the rest of the performances with you. A television screen/monitor will be set up for those dancers remaining in the holding room so they can watch the other performances while waiting to be picked up.
